References to Sires

ASCOT RUM 888 (P) (04/01/00) is by Abernethy Morgan and was shown on his mother as a calf in 2000, as a Junior in 2001 and a Senior in 2002. Rum won many Championships along the way. He is a very well muscled and balanced bull and is now one of our predominant sires. One of his early bull calves Ascot Bundy was shown in 2005 from Sydney to Mackay with wins all the way and in 2006 was a successful senior bull winning Grand Champion Bull at Beef 2006, the Brisbane Exhibition and local shows. Bundy was sold at our Sept Sale’06 for a record price of $27,000 to Rudi Palinkas. A lot of Rum semen has been marketed into South America and South Africa with positive feedback. This year, Rum has also sired our lead bull, Ascot O.P., and he will be selling as Lot 1. Also 2 other registered bulls.

ASCOT 1012 BREAKAWAY (P) (06/01/01) is by Abernethy Morgan (the sire of Ascot Rum) out of a Neimen Bear 1 cow and is a bull we kept for our own use. He has tremendous muscle pattern with a lot of length and has good overall structure. He is a bull that holds his condition well through the dry times. He has 3 herd bulls this year.

STRATHGYLE WRANGLER (P) (05/12/00) was purchased at the Gracemere Sale in 2003 for $16,000 (2nd top price on the day). He was a bull we had noticed for a couple of years around the shows and thought his general outlook was very good with plenty of bone length fleshing and a good coat colour. His pedigree gives us a complete new line of genetics and his calves are looking good. This year sees his first bulls being offered for sale and all have great weight for age and are showing a lot of content out of the Coograli O’Riley females which themselves are big cows. We have 3 registered bulls being offered including Ascot Levi who comes in as Lot 3. Also 2 herd bulls.

ASCOT JOCKO 817 (S) was sold in 2001 for a record price of $17500 and repurchased in 2003 after the new owner dispersed his herd. Semen was retained from Jocko for our own use and overseas markets. He won many awards including Grand Champion at Beef 2000. He was by Baroma Downs Kent and is a bull with tremendous length and fleshing. There is 1 calf registered bull and 3 herd bulls for sale this year.

ASCOT NOAH 980 (P) (20/8/97) is by Baroma Downs Kent and had tremendous weight for age, length and sire attributes. He was shown in 1999 & 2000 with his major award being Grand Champion Braford and overall Exhibit at the Goondiwindi Feature Show. Licensed export semen was sold into the South American countries.  He was sold for the then top price of $15500 to the Acton family at the 2000 Ascot Neimen Sale. We retained a ¼ share in the form of semen for overseas marketing and our own use.  This year we are offering 1calf registered bull.

ASCOT O.R. 844 (P) (5/11/98) is by Coograli O’Riley out of a Neimen Patrick cow and has been retained for stud duties because we feel he has a lot to add to our breeding programs. He is a bull with a lot of scale, a great temperament, a tidy sheath and a desirable smooth skin type. All the shows he attended saw him being placed second to Neimen Zorba. His females are proving to be good breeders.  He is represented by 4 herd bulls.

ASHBY KEPPEL (P) (24/09/00) was the top priced bull at the Rocky Sales in 2003 at $17000. He showed a lot of character and correctness and had a very tidy sheath. His weight for age and coat type was excellent. These new bloodlines give us an absolute out cross. He is well represented by Lot 2 Ascot Victor who is structurally very sound with a great nature. Other bulls to be offered are another calf registered bull and 4 herd bulls.

COOGRALI O’RILEY (S) (3/6/93) was purchased privately in 96 for his upstanding character, length and overall fleshing.  He grew into a big bull with good manners and his high content is shown in his offspring.  His females have grown into beautiful big cows and their calves by lower content bulls have developed well. O’Riley has produced a lot of top bulls over the last 10 years including Brother Jock who was awarded Grand Champion Braford at Beef 2003 and later sold at our annual sale to the Meek family for $16500. This year we have no bulls by O’Riley but his pedigree is well represented in many of the dams of the bulls.

We used him for 3 months with a mob of first calf heifers in 2004 prior to the sale. We have 2 calf registered bulls being offered this year.

HALCYON HERD BULL (P) was purchased at the Rocky All Breeds in 2002. He is a very powerful bull, with strength in his muscling and overall structure. A very tidy bull and is seen to be an active bull in the commercial herd. He is well represented by 7 herd bulls.

MORELANDS HAMILTON (P) (3/10/98) was purchased at the Rocky Sale in 2002 for his cross of Baroma Downs and New Corry genetics. He is a big bull with a lot of fleshing and his stock are easy doing cattle with an even balance of muscle. We’re offering 1 herd bull.

GOOMORA ZAC (P) (16/8/98) was purchased at the Rocky Sale in 2001. The attraction to this bull was the very impressive and correct maternal line. He is a bull with a lot of scale and length and reproductively very tidy. He is represented by 3 herd bulls.

DONRINDA 328 RHINO (08/07/00) was purchased at the Dubbo Sale in 2002 for his new genetics. He is a bull with length and muscling and has an excellent temperament. He breeds a beefy lower content animal and there are 2 herd bulls for sale this year.

AKUBRA DOWNS COBBER (P) (30/8/99) was purchased at the Rockhampton Sale in 2001. His qualities included confirmation and an excellent temperament and we were interested in his complete outcross of genetics. He runs in the commercial paddock and consistently breeds strong polled or scurred bulls. There are 5 bulls in the Herd Bull Section of the Sale.

BOOMERANG 1132 (P) (15/12/01) was purchased at the Roma Sale in 2003. He had new genetics, was a dark coloured neat bull and we purchased him for our commercial operation. He has 2 herd bulls this year.
